Prohibition
Politically:
Prohibition affected America politically because it created another Amendment to our Constitution. Also, many political leaders began to turn to hipocrisy-claiming innocence, but drinking liquor behind the scenes. There was also not enough effective reinforcement to the illegal distribution of alcohol, making it hard for those to keep to the law. Finally, the 18th Amendment brought about organized crime, spiking up crime rates, and the sitribution of drugs as well as alcohol. This led to other factors like murder and abduction, affecting the American society in a moral way.
Economically:
Economically, America was affected. Rich men began to secretly create clubs and bars where people could get beer and other alcoholic drinks. People would spend more money on homemade beer, or "bathtub gin" which grew popular. People began to spend more and more money and time on obtaining alcohol, or making it. The government also spent quite a bit of money hiring federal agents that caught the illegal distribution of alcohol.
Socially:
Socially, American was affected the most, especially in the large eastern cities and the West, where drinking was a part of the Old World culture that was integrated years before. However, groups such as the Women's Christian Temperance movement formed, as well as many others. Social lives declined for both men and women.
